Mr. Sam Green, Jr., 74, of 1412 Third Street South, Phenix City, passed Friday May 9, 2008, at Canterbury Nursing Home in Phenix City.
Homegoing services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 201 S. Seale Road, Phenix City, AL with the Pastor Rev. Noble D. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc., 1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be today from 1:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Green was born March 17, 1934 in Pittsview, AL, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Lula Sanks Green, Sr. After retiring from Golden Foundry, he owned and operated Green’s Tree Service, known throughout the area as “Tree Man”. He was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his loving wife Mrs. Ruthie R. Green; 2 stepsons, Lawrence C. Hudson (Barbara) and Earnest Lamar Hudson; a stepdaughter, Agatha Hill (Eugene); 2 brothers, Richard Green all of Phenix City, AL and Jimmy Green, Jacksonville, FL; 2 sisters, Sarah Johnson and Nancy Chubbs, both of Cleveland, OH; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
