Mrs. Vera Mae Harris, 84, of 2507 10th Street, Columbus passed Thursday June 26, 2008, at The Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Love, Joy and Peace Ministries, 322 25th Avenue, Columbus with the Elder Samuel L. Shelton, Sr. officiating according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc., 1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Mrs. Harris was born July 20, 1923 in Birmingham, AL, daughter of the late Norman and Rosie Spencer. She joined the church at an early age in Birmingham and later moved to Detroit, MI. Left to cherish her memories are beloved son, Mr. Willie (Deloris) Barrett, Columbus; a sister, Mattie Kelly of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Love, Joy and Peace Ministries in her honor.
