Mrs. Ida L. Walker Torrance, 91 of 2708 East Wynnton Lane, Columbus passed Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Monday, August 11, 2008 at Nazareth Baptist Church, Columbus, Georgia with the Senior Pastor, Reverend Vincent Wilson, presiding and Reverend Robert L. Holston, eulogist. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00AM until the funeral hour at Nazareth Baptist Church.
Mrs. Torrance was born December 17, 1916 in Heard County, Georgia to the late Robert and Lula Walker. Mrs. Torrance joined Nazareth Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.C. Russell. She served faithfully in the pastor’s aid, Red Circle, Usher Board #1, and Circle #1.
Mrs. Torrance retired from MCSD after many years of service. She was married to Mr. Roosevelt Torrance who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her son, Harvey Lee Walker.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving and devoted daughter-in-law, Bernice M. Walker of Columbus, GA; One grandson, Harvey O. Walker; Two great grandsons, Sheldon H. Walker and Shaun M. Walker; One great great granddaughter, Synia N. Walker all of Atlanta, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
