Mrs. Edna R. Dawson, 83, of EL Paso, TX formally of Columbus, GA died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Sierra Medical Center, El Paso. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Wynnton Hill Baptist Church, 2620 Buena Vista Road with the Pastor Rev. Bruce Alford officiating. Robert L. Hatchett, 71, of 435 Claradon Avenue, Columbus, GA died Thursday January 29, 2009 at Muscogee Manor Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Hwy 165, Ft. Mitchell, AL with the Pastor Rev. Sam Johnson officiating. Eddie Robinson
Eddie C. Robinson, Sr., 67, of 1031 Fisk Avenue, Columbus, GA died Friday January 16, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the chapel at People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, with Rev James Davis officiating, Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road.
Mr. Robinson was born July 20, 1941 in Chattahoochee County, GA son of the late Howard Robinson and Mrs. Jessie Mae Robinson. He was employed with Bucks Barbeque and Indys Restaurants as a Master Chef, loved walking and staying busy.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Eddie C. Robinson, Jr., Constance(Darrell)Jackson and Cornell Robinson; 3 brothers Harvey(Estelle)Robinson, Howard Robinson and John Robinson; a sister Veneda Robinson; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

Jimmie”Lil Jim” Hill, Jr., 81, of 5118 11th Avenue, Columbus, GA died Monday January 12, 2009 at The Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2009 at Greater Beallwood Baptist Church 4400 Sherwood Avenue, Columbus with the Pastor Rev Willie L. Hill officiating, Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery , Ft. Mitchell, AL with military honors according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until 7:00PM today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hill was born May 16, 1927 in Muscogee County, GA son of the late Jim and Minnie Ola Bryant Hill. He was employed with Anderson Mills for many years, a United States Army Veteran and Deacon at Little Mt. Olive Baptist Church until his health failed. In 1947 he married his partner, Mary Frances Lawrence and to their union nine children was born. Mr. Hill had a servant heart and was a friend to all, he was especially known for his clean cars with their sweet sounding pipes.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Hill; six sons Jimmie Lee Hill, Edward(Bertha)Hill, Elder Eugene(Elder Agatha)Hill, Leonard(Tiffany)Hill, Pastor Donald Ray(Minister Linda)Hill and Tommy Hill; 2 daughters, Linda Lou Beach and Catherine(Jimmy)Marshall; 2 brothers John Robert(Ann)Hill and Ulysses Hill; 2 sisters, Ida Mae Golden and Leola Hill; 29 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a very devoted cousin, Bonnie Huling and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends.

Mrs. Carrie Chaney Lacey, 62 of 3861 Commander Drive, Columbus, passed Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Nurse Care of Buckhead in Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 4400 Old Cusseta Road with the Pastor Rev. James C. Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, 1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be from 12 pm until 6 pm today Friday followed by a family hour from 6:00pm until 7 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lacey was born November 10, 1946 in Leroy, Alabama daughter of the late Elliott and Arnetta Donaldson Chaney. She received her early education in the public schools in Leroy, AL graduating from Prestwick High School with honors. She attended Alabama State College and received a BS in Library Media. With her desire to do more, she entered Alabama A&M University and holds a Masters in Library Media. Mrs. Lacey began her career in 1968 as a Media Specialist-Librarian at Dixie Elementary, Russell County, AL. After retirement, she served as substitute Librarian in the Russell County School District for seven years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher and working in the youth department.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Curtis E. Lacey, Sr.; 3 sons, Curtis E. Lacey, Jr., Keith Lamar(Charity) Lacey and Jarrat(Nicole) Lacey; 3 brothers, James(Willie)Chaney, Jackson, AL, Richmond(Clydine)Chaney, Millery, AL and Robert(Ron)Chaney, St Stephens, AL; 4 sisters, Margaret Gilmore, Thomasville, AL, Rebecca(Ed)Chaney, Leroy, AL, Bettye(Joseph)Chaney Poydras, Lawrenceville, GA, Rose Chaney, Anniston, AL and Gloria(Ron) Bissell, Castilian Springs, TN; thirty seven nieces and nephews, two uncles, four aunts, and a host of in laws and other loving relatives and dear friends.
