Mother Ida B. Davis, 79, 200 Graham Street, Plains, GA passed away June 3, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Friendship Baptist Church, 411 Cotton Ave., Americus, GA with Overseer Rosa Fowler, officiating. Interment will follow at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Plains, GA according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road, Columbus. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00PM at Americus Holiness Deliverance Temple, 1243 Faith Street, Americus.

Mother Davis was born October 20, 1929 to the parentage of Addie Lee and Jim Andrews. She attended Sumter County public schools. At an early age she gave her life to Christ. She married Alvin Davis Jr. on April 12, 1945. She is the mother of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her son James Sr., her sister Freddie Bridges, and daughter Betty Davis.

She was employed at Cooper Lighting for 34 years till her retirement in 2007. She has 9 surviving children, Alton Davis, Barbara Yancie, Patricia (Charlie) Wright, Virginia (Jessie) Tullis, Judith Davis, Emanuel (Jackie) Davis, Alonzo Davis, Wendy Davis, and Anthony Davis. She has (39) grandchildren and (60) great-grandchildren, a devoted grand-daughter Tequila Tullis, and devoted friends Julia Taylor and Bernice Ingram.
