Adee Lorestus Massey, Jr,

Adee_L__Massey,_Jr_Mr. Adee L. Massey, Jr., 81, of 3029 Waddell Drive, Columbus, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM today Thursday, September 24, 2009 at M. L. Harris United Methodist Church, 4601 Old Cusseta Road with the Pastor Rev. Earl S. James officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery with military honors accorded according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road.

Mr. Massey was born May 3, 1928 in Wetumpka, AL son of the late Adee Lorestus and Elsie Laura Cain Massey, Sr.. He graduated from Elmore County Training School, completed his under graduate studies at Tuskegee Institute graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree, he continued his graduate studies in Agriculture and Education earning a Masters of Science Degree with a major in Animal Husbandry. While enrolled at Tuskegee Institute, Adee enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in 1952, he was appointed Second Lieutenant. Later in the year, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a First Lieutenant. At an early age, Adee joined the African Methodist Zion Church, later Forest Road United Methodist Church and then united with M. L. Harris United Methodist Church. In 1985, after 37 years of Professional service, he retired from military and civil service at the Social Security Administration where he worked as a Claims Representative. He leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted wife, Gwendolyn Verdel Stephens Massey; two daughters, Roslyn Elise Massey and Kathleen Junel Massey, Columbus; special twin sons, Gregory Kenneth Massey, Dry Branch, GA and David Bernard Massey, Columbus; a sister, Erma Belle((James)Mack, Wetumpka, AL; nieces , Saundra Anita Gatson(Harold), Birmingham, AL and D’Aundria Ashley Teague-Foster, Birmingham, AL and a host of relatives and dear friends.
