Mrs. Donya Lanette Johnson, 41, of 4510 Deerfield Drive, Columbus, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at her residence
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Mobile, AL with the Pastor Rev. C W McNeal officiating, Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc. 1604 Talbotton Road, Columbus. Visitation will Friday, October 23, 2009 at Small’s Mortuary, 950 South Broad Street, Mobile, AL . Mrs. Johnson was born February 19, 1968 in Mobile County, AL daughter of Samuel and the late Harriett Stewart Mixon. She was a school teacher, teaching at both Baker Middle School in Columbus and Ringgold Elementary School in Clarksville, TN.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Edward Johnson, Columbus; daughters, Victoria, Chelsea, and Morgan Johnson, Columbus; brothers, Sam Mixon, Chris Mixon, Dominic Humphery; sisters, Jacquelyn Hill, Samantha Mixon, Katina Seals and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

I am so sad to hear of Donya’s passing. The world is less bright without her smile to light the way. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.
MY FRIEND… I will never forget Donya from her smile, her personality and the big powerful laugh of hers. Whether she was telling a joke for a laugh or even saying something to make you feel better she would always have a way for that beautiful light of her’s to shine through. To the girls: you were your mother’s joy and Im glad I got the chance to see her show you all the love GOD gave her when in her presence. ED- the most DEVOTED husband I’ve seen thus far, as Ive always said to you Thank you for honoring your vows and loving MY FRIEND…What GOD put together let no man put asunder.. We are so terribly saddened by the loss of Donya, please know that your Fort Benning family sends many prayers to Edward, Victory, Chelsea and Morgan.

Donya was a very special friend to me and I will truly miss her unique personality as well as her beautiful smile. One thing for sure it was no secret as to how much love Donya had for her family. You were her pride and joy.
