Laura F. Higgins, 87, of 4560 Moline Avenue, Columbus, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 12, 2009 at St Francis Hospital. Graveside services will be held 12:00PM Thursday , December 17, 2009 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 4400 St Mary’s Road with Rev. Alonzo Whitaker presiding and Minister Sherry Johnson as eulogist according to People’s Funeral Service of Columbus, Inc.1604 Talbotton Road. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00PM until 6:00PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Higgins was born August 12, 1922 in Lee County, AL daughter of the late Henry and Pearlie Wooden Filmore, Sr. She received her education in the Lee County, AL area and at an early age joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Mrs. Laura was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Higgins, Sr. and a daughter Pearlie H. Gardner. She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Seria F.(Jimmie) Williams; a son, Samuel Higgins, Jr., Morrow, GA; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a special first cousin, Daisy Spruiel, Columbus and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
