Mr. King Dillon
Mr. King Dillon, 86, of 1339 21st Street, Columbus, GA formally of Homerville, GA died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Vistacare at Franciscan Woods, Columbus. Funeral services will be held 12:00PM Saturday , March 27, 2009 at Brown Chapel AME Church, Homerville with the Pastor Reverend Gerald Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery, Homerville. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00PM until 6:00PM at the funeral home. Mr. Dillon was born March 13, 1924 in Miller County, GA son of the late Joseph and Liza Jackson Dillon. He spent his early years as a timber worker along with his dad. He did not receive a formal education, but asked his dad if it were possible for him to learn to read and write. That’s what he wanted to do more than anything, though several of his siblings gravitated toward musical instruments and developed skills such as carpentry. King did learn to read and write. As a young man he secured employment with Brockway Standard, an organization specializing in production of steel containers. King remained with Brockway Standard until his retirement at the age of 62. In the meantime, he met and later married the former Susie A. Graham on December 3, 1962. She preceded him in death in the year two thousand and three. King accepted the Lord as his Savior while still a young man and was a dutiful member of Brown’s Chapel AME Church. His most earnest prayer was for the Lord to bless him with a sober mind so that he would be able to discern between good and evil. He did not like to see anyone looking sad or feeling down, and would often offer a word of encouragement. Many a time one would find him in a jovial mood bring laughter and cheer to those around him. Several of his fondest memories were teaching children at Sunday School, prayer, singing, and serving as Sunday School Superintendent. He was very appreciative of Paula Coachman for providing him with meals during his latter days. He spent many pleasant mornings with friends like Claudette Epps, W C McMilliam and James Fluker and several members at the Clinch County Senior Center. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted nephew, Bill Dunbar; niece Debra Thomas(Jaylen); and as a devoted son, Billy Cunningham(Betty) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a town full of friends.

Dear Family,
Dear Family,
I am so sorry about the death of your dear loved one. May you find comfort from the Bible’s promise of a resurrection in John 5: 28 and 29. Also, may you find comfort in the fact that God promises to make our earth a peaceful place to live. Revelation 21:3 and 4 says that death, pain, and sorrow will be done away with. How our loved ones, as well as us look forward to that day soon to come.
